■ Do the same rules apply to First Spouse gold coins regarding if the individual must be deceased before they can appear on the coin?
The Presidential Dollar Coin Act, Public Law 109-145, doesn’t specify if a First Spouse must be deceased in order to appear on a gold coin for that series. Likewise, the law doesn’t specify if the First Spouse must be deceased to appear on a bronze medal. The law does indicate the material may be struck in tandem with eligible Presidential dollars.
