■ Are there any dates for Prooflike Uncirculated Kennedy half dollars that are more common or particularly rare?
Prooflike 1965 to 1967 half dollars with mirrored fields and sandblasted devices are available in Special Mint Sets from those dates. It appears some 1970 examples may have been struck on Proof planchets using dies meant for Uncirculated strikes. The 1972-D date is considered a little more available. The PL half dollars of 1984-D appear to have originated from a heavily polished die at the Mint. Prooflike half dollars appeared more regularly beginning in 1987 when the mint tried to improve quality by chrome plating coinage dies.
