Under cover of darkness, and armed with some LED lights, Jason Parnell-Brookes shows you how to throw your own light shapes

However, with the long nights comes a fantastic opportunity to create your own light paintings that you would otherwise have to stay up late for in the summer. All you need is a string of LED lights and a couple of batteries. With the camera on a tripod and set to a long exposure, you’ll need to simultaneously swing the lights around while triggering the camera to capture the light trails.
