There are a million answers out there to almost any situation: what to do, how to do it and when. But there not nearly as many about the ‘why’

Without a doubt, the time we learn the most is during childhood, when we are constantly playing, constantly failing, and continually asking, “Why?” There might be something in that. As a parent of a curious toddler, the constant refrain of “Why?” can be frustrating – particularly when you don’t know the answer, and you end up delivering the stock response: “I don’t know, it just is!” As a professional photographer, I am forever bombarded with solutions from marketing companies, training sites, photography associations and government bodies. All insist they have the answers to my every need. But rarely do these ‘all-encompassing solutions’ tell me why! If I know why something works or why we do things in a certain way, I can apply that knowledge to almost anything. Knowing the ‘what’ and the ‘how’…
