Awhile back, I was among the fortunate few invited to England to have a look at Jaguar’s new XJ220 supercar. The itinerary was enough to whet any car nut’s appetite, with stops at the factory, Tom Walkinshaw Racing, and JaguarSport—the joint-venture company of Jaguar Cars Limited and TWR group. Our method of transport was a limited-edition XJR-S, a Jaguar Sport-built performance variation on the basic XJS theme. At first glance, you can see the limited-edition XJR-S is special. It has a unique front-and rear-bumper treatment with corresponding rocker panels, satin-black grille, headlight bezels, rear spoiler, and the XJR-S logo etched into the rear quarter glass. Lower than the standard XJS, the revised coupe looks far more ferocious, with wide, 16×8.0-inch alloy wheels carrying Z-rated 225/50 front and 245/55 rear Goodyear Eagle tires.…
