FACELIFT FOR ’94 CONTINENTAL Fora Motor Company’s Lincoln-Mercury Division introduced its ’94 Continental at the New York auto show March 29, ending speculation that the all-new Continental would still debut sometime in the 1994 calendar year. The ’94 Continental’s public introduction day was May 6, and the car is on sale now. The model-year makeover is a Lincoln effort to inject an element of newness into a long-familiar platform. Plans had called for an all-new Continental for ’94, but shifting economic priorities and last-minute engineering tie-downs pushed the introduction of the new car to next year. The ’94 placeholder model receives new grille, bumper covers, rocker and bodyside moldings, taillights, and colors.
