Appearances can be deceiving. Chrysler’s answer to the full-size van question is this pleasantly restyled Dodge Ram Van/Wagon, an early ’94 that should be reaching dealer showrooms as you read this. In fact, there’s less true all-new here than meets the eye. But the illusion is well executed, and its more uptown appearance should strike a responsive chord among potential buyers.
Keenly aware of the need to make every investment dollar count, Chrysler managed to smartly update this decidedly veteran package on a budget one spokesman estimated to be “about 10 percent of what Ford spent” on its latest Econoline/Club Wagon—no small achievement.
