The Photos app has replaced iPhoto and it is much more akin to the mobile iOS versions that you will find on your iPhone or iPad. Whenever you import photos into the app they will be automatically organized by time, date and location for easy perusal, and you can easily browse albums or click on individual images to view them full-screen.
