‘Paasfees is die Nuwejaarsdag van die siel’ A.B. SIMPSON ‘En as Ek van die aarde af verhoog is, sal Ek almal na My toe trek” (Johannes 12:32). Christene oor die wêreld heen berei hulle weer voor om Paasfees op hulle tipiese maniere te vier. By ons behels dit Paasbolletjies, Paaseiers (eiers was reeds uit die Jodedom al deel van die Paas-simboliek) en die Paashaas (wat nie so ’n eg-Christelike oorsprong het nie). Om tydens die Vaste (of Lent, die 40 dae voor Paasfees) van klein luukses soos koffie, soetgoed en wyn te vas is vir my geestelik geweldig waardevol. Dan is daar die wonderlike Paasbyeenkomste: Palmsondag, die Tenebrae (“Diens van Duisternis”) wat dikwels op die Donderdagaand voor Paasfees gehou word, Goeie Vrydag se somber byeenkoms en Sondag se jubelende klokke,…
