It’s hard to find out much about Land Rovers assembled overseas from completely knocked-down (CKD) form. Although there are good records for some countries, others have none. Solihull stopped keeping detailed CKD records at the end of 1964, farming the business out to a contractor for many years. So, there are thousands of vehicles for which no records exist. But Roverphile has taught me that somebody usually knows the answer to even the most obscure questions. This issue’s query is about the CKD operations in Eire – for which almost no records survive. Land Rovers were assembled in Dublin for many years, and at a guess the first were in 1950 and the last somewhere between 1964 and 1968. The first assemblers were Lincoln & Nolan, who had also assembled Rover cars…
