Pet owners must carry a genetic passport for their pooch during walks with local council workers collecting and analysing excrement DNA to identify poop-perpetrators. Ménard said, “We pick up more than 1,000 messes a month, sometimes a lot more, just in the town centre. It just cannot go on.” Owners found guilty of not cleaning up after their canine will receive a $200 fine with a smaller penalty for those who fail to have their pooch passport on them.
