Well, the end of my last Our Jags was prophetic. Because just a fortnight after the first of my new Philips GT Racing 200 bulbs blew, the second followed while I was 100 miles from home helping a mate pick up a modern classic MG. Fortunately, I’ve taken to carrying a spare pair with me, but at £17 each it’s an unhealthy habit. I haven’t yet had time to investigate any possible alternator regulatory issues but it’s on the to do list. Either I had a bad pair of bulbs or they’re highlighted a new issue to look into. Funny how it never blew ordinary bulbs, though… It’s partly for this reason that the XJ6 has been a little neglected in the last month – it’s only done about 1,000…
