A pesar de las malas relaciones entre el gobierno de Castro y los Estados Unidos, el líder cubano sobrevivió a once presidentes norteamericanos, cosa nada fácil si hacemos mención a los intentos de asesinato que habría ideado la CIA y que, según fuentes de La Habana, se cifran en más de 600. Dentro de esa cifra, se cuentan proyectos realmente rocambolescos, como el uso de puros explosivos, caracoles bomba o trajes de buzo envenenados.
