Adam Goldsmith’s anxiety-quashing techniques get put to the test at Wembley for Children In Need Rocks

Since writing last issue’s column, which concerned the subject of performance anxiety, I’ve been thinking about this subject a bit more deeply. And I’ve had plenty of chances to experiment with approaches, mainly in the form of being in the house band for the Children In Need Rocks concert at the SSE Arena, Wembley. I was particularly excited this year as I got to meet the legend that is Nile Rodgers, who was also on the bill with his band Chic. I’m very happy to report that the phrase ‘never meet your heroes’ couldn’t be more inaccurate in this case, as he is an absolute gentleman and super friendly. I imagine I’m not the first jobbing guitar player to walk up to him and blabber on about how brilliant he is.…
