Pebble Beach is one of the most celebrated places to play golf anywhere on the planet. For 100 years, it has enthralled golfers with its beauty and challenge. It is said novelist Robert Louis Stevenson, looking for inspiration for his Treasure Island, walked the Pebble Beach shoreline, which he later called “the most felicitous meeting of land and sea in creation.” It is not just the greatest meeting of land and sea in American golf, but it is also the most extensive as nine of its holes stretch out along the edge of the Pacific Ocean – from the 4th to the 10th and the famed two closing holes –leaving golfers exposed to Mother Nature more than any other US Open venue.
