IN THE immediate aftermath of the 2019 Masters I saw a telling statistic, one that illustrates only too clearly how important Tiger Woods is to golf. The winning putt from last year was viewed 365,000 times on masters.com; this year the number of views had reached 7.5 million the last time I looked. And I have no doubt it will be a lot higher by the time you read these words. Amazing. Still, apart from the fact that this year’s tournament was special and historic, for me it was a unique experience. For the first time, I went to Augusta National as something other than a player.
