ENCOUNTERS In this issue we revisit one of ufology’s classic close encounter cases – the 1973 Pascagoula incident in which two Mississippi shipyard workers, Charles Hickson and Calvin Parker, had a run-in with strikingly bizarre aliens that prefigured much of the abduction lore of the following decades. Philip Mantle, who has spent years digging into the incident, talking to the witnesses and finding suggestive new nuggets of evidence, believes that it remains “the best documented close encounter case on record”, and here offers a fresh look at Pascagoula and the latest developments in his investigation.
