DRONE RECORD While New Jersey was gripped by its plague of mystery drones (see pp.14-15), Texas drone display company Sky Elements was setting a world record for the “Longest Animation Performed by Drones” with its 30 minute Christmas aerial spectacular. Performed to a drive-in audience at the Birdville ISD Fine Arts/Athletics Complex in North Richland Hills, Texas, the show used 5,000 programmed drones synchronised to create an evolving sequence of images in the sky, beating a recently set Chinese record for a performance that used 2,500 drones. The show began with a gigantic, lifelike turkey, which spread its feathers and transformed into a giant snowman, then a gingerbread village, complete with festive lights and smoke, and, after a sequence of further transformations, ended with Santa Claus and his reindeer soaring…
