Harold Woodrow Thomas Jr, in his 60s and from San Antonio, Texas, was taking rubbish bags out to the bin in front of his property while also carrying a loaded rifle. However, on the way down his path he slipped over and accidentally fired the rifle into his chest at close range. Thomas managed to get to his feet again and start walking back to the house, but collapsed after a few yards.
