Surprising way to silence self-criticism Heading out to putter in your garden can do more than relax you—it can also make you love your body more, say researchers in the journal Ecopsychology. When they analyzed how both gardeners and non-gardeners viewed their body, they discovered that the gardeners had significantly more pride and appreciation for their body than their counterparts. And the more time they spent in the soil, the bigger their body-image boost. The authors theorize that connection to nature helps us be more mindful and compassionate, and that helps us appreciate our own beauty.
