Professional sports photographer Mark Pain discusses what makes a great image and reveals his love of a challenge

Nikon ambassador Mark Pain is a multiaward-winning sports photographer with years of experience. He won Olympic Photographer of the Year in 2012 and he geared up to shoot at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Have you always been interested in photography? My first memories of having an interest in photography go back to when I was about ten years old. I remember being on a school holiday summer activity camp and being given a fixed-lens Kodak 126 film camera to use for the day. We had to go to our local park and come back with a variety of different images. Later in the week we had the opportunity to print some of the black-and-white pictures we had taken in a darkroom.
