Cojucaru to guest with Qld Ballet

The celebrated Romanian ballerina, Alina Cojucaru, will once again be a guest artist with the Queensland Ballet when it performs its full length production of Ben Stevenson’s Swan Lake this year. She last appeared with the company in 2015 to dance the role of Aurora in Greg Horsman’s The Sleeping Beauty. This will be the first production of Swan Lake under artistic director Li Cunxin’s directorship. He and Stevenson have a close relationship – when Stevenson was artistic director of the Houston Ballet he invited Cunxin to join, leading to his defection from China. The rest is history. Stevenson is now artistic director of Texan Ballet Theatre. His Swan Lake is a traditional production. ‘Swan Lake’ will run from May 5-13 at the Lyric Theatre, Queensland Performing Arts Centre.…
