e-Voting, could be the way forward

THE discussion about electronic voting (e-voting) turned to what lessons the country could learn from other nations that have made strides in this sphere and the challenges they faced in the implementation and adoption of it. E-voting offers a wide range of benefits, but there are also dangerous downsides to digitising the electoral process. All of this came up at a three-day conference in Cape Town. The conference, which ends today, is focused on the prospect of electronic voting in South African elections, and will serve as a pivotal platform for initiating a public conversation about the possibility of introducing electronic voting sometime in the future.
