The second collab between Saint Laurent and Girard-Perregaux shows how the watchmaker is spot-on with its aesthetics.

Just a few years ago, the luxury watch segment saw the revival of a particular retro-futuristic style of design – the digital display. Hamilton, Corum, and, of course, Girard-Perregaux were just a few names that released special editions of high-end digital watches. The Casquette (French for ‘cap’) is Girard-Perregaux’s digital display watch, introduced in 1976 as quartz-powered digital watches became commonplace, and the pursuit of space adventure blended with modern design. The shield case, tapered design, and LED segment display really reflected the style of the era. Designers like Pierre Cardin and Yves Saint Laurent brought forward a new look, and watchmakers did the same.
