FORGET the challenges of geopolitics, our farmyard has recently been the scene of Cat-Gate. It all started last summer when I read an advertisement about rehoming feral cats from London. Within a month of my first email, Georgie and Speedy arrived courtesy of the Society for the Neutering of Islington’s Pussies, also known as SNIP. The two cats arrived with a release pen, instructions on how and when to release them and several weeks’ worth of food. Both cats have been a huge success; our mouse and rat situation has diminished and the once-terrified twosome are now fully grown hunters and love nothing more than curling up in the tack room or workshop—wherever there is food, company and warmth.
