Sammy Davis Medium by Jonni Cheatwood ‘I discovered the work of Jonni Cheatwood through my friend and sometime collaborator, the brilliant street artist Sickboy, one of our Bristol posse. He had loaned me some pieces to hang in our restaurants and was threatening to take this one away, once it had done its time at The Pony Chew Valley. I realised that it had come to represent for me everything that we were trying to do. The work is a collage, with bits of fabric tapestried, as it were, alongside paint on the canvas: materials and skills from the past informing a contemporary piece.
