COUNTRY people are not known for their diplomacy. We are much more likely to say what we think than to beat around the bush. However, for the most part, we can manage to make our points without being rude. Most of us are, therefore, affronted by the increasing vulgarity of the world’s political discourse.
Peter Mandelson, nominated as our ambassador to the US, will have to deal with a President and an administration that doesn’t mince its words. However, that’s no excuse for failing to mind his own language.
