What to buy and how much to pay As always buy the most complete you can find. As a bottom line the panels, gauges, seat base, exhaust and guards really need to be there unless you’re building a dedicated off-roader. Pattern rear lights are quite common, ditto indicators. The heat guard on the exhaust is especially hard to find and many side-panels offered for sale are often damaged or poorly repaired. The original 1969 version is much sought after now and often goes for serious money – apparently they can top £6000 or more. There seems to be a fair number of L and M model project examples on offer from around £1400.
