DG Auto’s Darren still owns this trick, 200+ bhp Pinto-powered and sprintspec Mk2 Escort, which he bought for the impressive sum of £120 before completely rebuilding it. That’s the good news. The bad news? It’s in bits and has been for some time. “I think it came off the road in late 1999 after we`d done some sprints in it,” recalls Darren. “It held the record for its class at Curborough for over three years — not bad for an old Escort against modern cars!
