You can lay money that if an old Ford’s going to rot, it’ll be in the sills. And since the sills form a structural part of the body — in a way, they’re the main chassis rails — it’s vital they’re strong. The trouble is, it’s not a straightforward case of chopping one out and slapping a new one on — for a start the car really needs to be braced. But since it is such a focal point, the adjoining areas either need to be repaired first or are majorly affected by the sill’s repair.
