Where has 2024 gone already? It only seems like last week that we were pulling open the curtains on January 1 and looking forward to another fine year of great builds, packed shows, interesting new gear and catching up with the people behind all of this and much more. As this magazine enters its 28th year, and the classic Ford scene as a whole adds another cross to its already impressive, decades-long calendar, there’s much to be proud of and much to celebrate. The global old Ford scene is unique — no other classic marque can claim to have such a varied culture (the history, cars and people) that surrounds it, and over the following seven pages we’re highlighting some of the standout aspects of the scene from the last 12 months. We hope you enjoy, and here’s to 2025.

PRODUCT OF THE YEAR GROUP 5 WHEEL Resurrecting a somewhat obscure, 60-year-old magnesium wheel design and bringing it to mass production is a commercial risk to say the least, but when Retro Ford revealed last year that they were making the hugely-distinctive, web-spoked wheel design worn by the Group 5 Lotus Cortinas race cars in the mid 1960s available in alloy for road use, the response was massively positive. Thankfully, the finished product has been a big hit for Retro Ford and it’s not just being embraced by motorsport aficionados or Lotus Cortina owners - Dan Thorne chose to run a set on his lairy pink Mk2 Fiesta (above) when he unveiled it at the Classic Ford Show back in May, and they were the perfect choice.
