In a bid to keep up with the competition, Ford switched the all-new Mk3 to a front wheel drive layout, but there’d been little in the way of motorsport development. Fortunately, Gartrac were able to offer a rear-wheel-drive conversion, utilising as many Mk2 Escort parts as possible. Adrian’s Mk3 uses a Genesis G3 platform with custom top mounts and inner wings in order to locate the strut towers in the Mk3’s standard position. “The top mount inners use custom-made rectangular eccentric plates in order to lean the struts back for better handling,” Adrian tells us.
