You’ll have to excuse us for being a bit late to the party but October marked 60 years since the Halewood plant in Merseyside was originally opened by Ford. This January 1969 images shows the then brand-new Capri being driven away from the production line, presumably for export as it’s left-hand-drive. The Capri would be launched at the Brussels Motor Show the same month, although production at Halewood had actually begun two months earlier to ensure that every UK dealer could have at least one Capri on its forecourt by the time sales started. At the time, the plant was also producing the Mk1 Escort and Corsair and Ford would continue building cars at Halewood until 2002. It’s now under Jaguar-Land Rover ownership.…
