ESCORT RS2000 WORKS RALLY CAR ‘SNOOPY’

One of the 25 Mk2 RS2000s imported by Ford in 1976, this car was built into a rally car by Ford’s Works team to contest the 1977 Australian Rally Championship and other select events alongside a Boreham built BDG Escort. It soon gained the name Snoopy and scored wins in the Bega and Castrol rallies in the hands of Greg Carr and Fred Gocentas. In 1978 the team had a second BDG car but retained Snoopy as a back-up. It did compete in a number of events that year and took Colin Bond and John Dawson-Damer to victory in the Endrust Rally.
