As we climb into what looks like the official transport of Marty the zebra, the nice man from BMW is keen to point out that this four-door, bulked-up, high-performance saloon is not the new BMW iM3. And, fair enough, any lingering thoughts are quickly extinguished when the pilot, BMW factor driver Jens Klingman, fires up the ground-effect impeller system that creates max downforce in the blink of an eye from just 40mph. This car is a working prototype, a vehicle for trying out new and sometimes fanciful bits of tech that can provide crucial data for future BMWs. A test mule.
