TWO OF THE popular zooms for Panasonic's Micro Four Thirds camera have been upgraded with revised optical designs and new features. The new Leica DG Vario-Elmarit 35-100mm f/2.8 Power O.I.S is actually the third version of this lens that is equivalent to 70-200mm, but importantly gains Leica endorsement and badging thanks to the improvements in optical performance. The optical construction comprises 18 elements in 13 groups and includes three elements with extra-low dispersion characteristics (one of these is designated “Ultra ED”). The anti-reflection multi-coating is updated to Panasonic's ‘Nano Surface Coating’ technology for enhanced suppression of flare and ghosting which benefits both the contrast and colour reproduction. The minimum focusing distance is 85 centimetres which gives a maximum reproduction ratio of 1:5 (35mm equivalent) at 100mm. The optical image stabilisation…
