Rice layers The Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year 2024 has revealed its shortlist, picked from thousands of images from more than 60 countries. Fo Bugler is shortlisted for this image taken in Guizhou province, China during the “Disappearing Tribes of China” photographic tour. “This was taken looking down onto Biasha Village as we approached. I was particularly struck by the layers of water-filled rice paddies, the village dwellings and the trees. I also love how the placement of the three people leads the viewer through the picture,” says Bugler.
