WORLD ON THE MOVE AGAIN

THE WORLD TRAVEL & TOURISM COUNCIL (WTTC) is projecting a record-breaking year for travel and tourism this year, with the sector’s global economic contribution predicted to exceed US$11 trillion. The WTTC’s 2024 Economic Impact Research found that the sector will contribute an additional US$770 billion over its previous record, and WTTC expects 142 countries of the 185 analysed to outperform previous national records. International visitor spending is also forecast to come close to the pre-pandemic peak, reaching US$1.89 trillion. Julia Simpson, WTTC president and CEO, said: “This isn’t just about breaking records, we’re no longer talking about a recovery – this is a story of the sector back at its best after a difficult few years, providing a significant economic boost around the world and supporting millions of jobs.” Read…
