Dass ein Tier kein Weihnachtsgeschenk sein sollte, wissen wir ja. Trotzdem schleichen sich bei dieser Gelegenheit Mitbewohner ein, die sonst keine Chance gehabt hätten. Vom Fluch (und Segen) lebendiger Überraschungen

Noch nie hatte ich einen Drink so nötig „Muckel und Flitzi waren bestimmt das größte Weihnachtsgeschenk, das meine Tochter je bekommen hat. Die beiden waren zwar nur Mäuse, genau genommen Wüstenrennmäuse, aber der Käfig war echt riesig! Den konnte ich gebraucht kaufen, mit ganz viel Zubehör, und ich war richtig stolz auf mein Schnäppchen. Überhaupt war die ganze Operation Wüstenrennmaus gut geplant – das war nicht so ein unüberlegter Schnellschuss kurz vor Heiligabend. Meine Tochter war mit acht endlich alt genug für ein wenig Verantwortung und hatte sich schon ewig ein Haustier gewünscht. Ich wollte eins, das man auch mal mit Futter allein lassen kann, weil wir im Sommer oft mit unserem Camper übers Wochenende wegfahren. In der Zoohandlung riet man uns zur Wüstenrennmaus.
