Rahel und Patrick wollten in den Weihnachtsferien dem üblichen Trubel entfliehen und zogen mit ihren Kindern Filippa (8) und Karlotta (6) für eine Auszeit in die norwegische Wildnis: in eine einsame Hütte fernab jeder Zivilisation – ohne Strom oder fließendes Wasser. Dafür mit viel Ruhe, grandioser Natur und der Erkenntnis, dass man oft weniger braucht, als man denkt

Hinter der Hütte liegt das weite Tal, Wald, soweit das Auge reicht Das Abenteuer beginnt Unsere Ferien müssen wir uns erst erobern. Eine Autostunde von Oslo entfernt beladen wir unseren Schlitten mit Proviant und marschieren in den Wald hinein. Vom Besitzer der Ferienhütte haben wir Karte und Kompass bekommen, zusammen mit dem Hinweis, dass es Jahre her sei, seit Besucher das letzte Mal Kinder auf dieses Abenteuer mitgenommen hätten. Doch Filippa, 8, und Karlotta, 6, schlagen sich tapfer auf unserer Wanderung entlang eines zugefrorenen Sees. Der Weg bergauf wird allerdings immer unwegsamer, und nach zwei Stunden Marsch sinkt die Laune dann doch. Endlich entdecken wir die Hütte.
