You get excellent views that are well worth the effort. The map says you can do a circular walk after crossing the footbridge over the burn gorge and joining the top path, but on our visit in February the connecting steep path was very muddy and slippery, so we did not attempt this, and did the two sections separately returning to the car park for lunch in between.
