With three such different bikes, it’s difficult to directly compare them against each other but if this test proves nothing else, it shows how versatile steel can be as a frame-building material.
The Specialized sequoia is a bike designed and cable of going on roads and adventures far beyond many other bikes. The heavy weight does hamper progress but when fully loaded, the sturdy frame and plentiful options for adding racks, cages or luggage add up to make a bike that feels like it could go anywhere and survive anything.
The Cinelli, meanwhile, couldn’t be more different. With its roots in fixed-gear crit racing, it retains much of its original nature, even if adding a freehub makes many aspects of that less relevant. But even so, it’s a durable bike…
