Departing from Durham, Vélo North will see 15,000 riders tackle 100-miles of traffic-free roads

Starting in the heart of Durham city centre outside the historic cathedral, Vélo North’s 100-mile route will take riders out through County Durham and into the rugged North Pennines countryside. With 15,000 places available, it’ll instantly become one of the largest events of its kind in the UK. It’s set to be a toughie, too. While London’s similarly long Prudential RideLondon-Surrey manages a respectable 1,864 metres of climbing, Vélo North easily trumps it with 2,200, thanks in part to the climb from St John’s Chapel and up Harthope Road.
