THE CONDITIONS LOOKED sketchy but, thankfully, the track was dry during qualifying at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Iker Lecuona (Team HRC) stormed to his first-ever pole position and also Honda’s first one in six years. He was joined on the front row by the Kawasakis of Alex Lowes and Jonathan Rea. Alvaro Bautista took off like a rocket from fifth place and straight into the lead during the start of the first race. Following his example, Toprak Razgatlioglu also had a great start; from eighth to second. Bautista fought off Razgatlioglu and sped away to victory with a lead of more than eight seconds. After losing the fight with Bautista, Razgatlioglu was passed by Rea, Garret Gerloff (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team), and Michael Ruben Rinaldi. Rea took second place…
