This harbourside property presented unique spatial challenges but is now light years from the eight-point problem it used to be.

This beguiling waterside home on Sydney’s lower North Shore has star appeal, literally. With its intriguing eight-point footprint, it’s decidedly outside the box. But such eccentricity also offered serious challenges when the owners bought it in 2021. Handsomely etched in sandstone and concrete, the home had the proverbial good bones and spectacular water and bush views, with the rare bonus – much prized in Sydney – of its own jetty. “It was always a dream of mine to have one,” says the owner. But some ‘interesting angles’, the result of the building’s quirky shape, had never been on his wishlist.
