About Bala Kand
Valmiki wrote the Ramayana, a poem about Rama of Ayodhya. In this volume, beautiful illustrations accompany lucid story-telling as readers are introduced to King Dasharatha and his wives: Kaushalya, Sumitra and Kaikeyi. The book follows their sons: Rama, Bharatha, Lakshmana and Shatrugna. Together, the four princes grow up in the palace. However, the Gods have another plan for them, and especially for Rama, the eldest. Join Rama as he battles demons out of nightmares and journeys with his brother Lakshmana and the rishis to Mithila, where the proud king Janaka holds a competition. The prize: the hand of the beautiful princess Sita.
