WORLD ENDURANCE CHAMPIONSHIP Aston Martin’s announcement last week that it is putting its Valkyrie LM Hypercar programme on hold was a bombshell that could have far-reaching ramifications for the World Endurance Championship. Not only does it mean that Toyota will be the only major manufacturer in the series in 2020-21, but it could have wider implications as international sportscar racing moves towards so-called convergence with the LMDh category. The British manufacturer revealed that it is at the very least postponing its entry into the LM Hypercar class in the WEC beyond the coming 2020-21 season.
