S-class coupé gets £183k AMG flagship

MERCEDES-BENZ has crowned its S-class coupé line-up with the new S65 AMG. First deliveries of the range-topping, £183,065 model are expected towards the end of this year. Powering the S65 AMG coupé is a twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre V12 engine with 621bhp and 738lb ft of torque. That’s enough to allow the model to reach 62mph in 4.1sec — 0.1sec quicker than the V8-powered S63 coupé — with a limited top speed of 155mph. Mercedes also says the S65 is capable of returning up to 23.7mpg, alongside CO2 emissions of 279g/km. The engine is coupled to Mercedes’ seven-speed automatic transmission, with three modes — dubbed Controlled Efficiency, Sport and Manual — selectable by the driver.
