CHROME IS HOT AIR DS is bucking the industry’s growing obsession with chrome, ditching the shiny finish for its new 7 SUV, because its production creates too much CO2. Design director Thierry Métroz said that it’s in fact “more premium” to use less chrome, rather than more. Plus, not using it helps in DS’s drive to become a netcarbon-zero firm by 2050. “It’s more premium and more luxurious to have less chrome, because in fact now when you’re looking at the mainstream brands, there’s a lot of chrome, because they want to be premium,” he told Autocar. “But for DS, we try [to reverse] this trend and would like to be more sophisticated and more refined, because all the chrome finish causes a lot of CO2 [to produce].” MEETINGS IN YOUR CAR Want to join a meeting…
