Love is a many-splendoured thing — and something that often preoccupies us, even if we haven’t found it. This longing for love is reflected in many of this year’s Iris Prize nominated LGBT+ short films

The annual Iris Prize Festival takes place this October in Cardiff, putting LGBT+ short films front and centre for the 11th year running. The main Iris Prize — for which there are 35 contenders from across the globe — comes with a £30,000 prize package to help finance the winner’s next project. Entries explore all aspects of the LGBT+ experience, with love across the ages emerging as a key theme this year: from early sexual awakening to the companionship we yearn for in old age. The six-day festival is also home to the Best British Award, judged in part by our very own Editor-in-Chief Matt Cain, and celebrating homegrown talent with a cool £20,000 prize up for grabs.
